San Jose, CA– A community lecture entitled “Lung Cancer Awareness” will be presented by O’Connor medical oncologist Manoj Agarwal, MD, MBA, on Wednesday, January 22, 2014. Community members are invited to attend free of charge.
Attendees will learn about the history and prevalence of lung cancer. The presentation will provide an overview of the second most common cancer in men and women, excluding skin cancer.
Dr. Agarwal will discuss the two main types of lung cancer; symptoms and screening and treatment options. He will explain the role smoking and second-hand smoke play in the disease as well as lung cancer in non-smokers.
Dr. Agarwal is a graduate of Christian Medical College. Vellore, India. He completed his hematology-oncology fellowship at the University of Illinois at Chicago and completed a bone marrow transplant fellowship at Rush University Medical Center, also in Chicago. His primary professional interests have focused on the treatment for and clinical research of lung cancer. Over the past 8 years, he has served as a primary investigator and research assistant on several clinical trials. Dr. Agarwal brings that experience and expertise to a community setting where he practices general hematology and medical oncology.
